The Lago de Plata Apartments offers a Learning Center through the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Neighborhood Networks program. The Neighborhood Networks program provides individuals in disadvantaged circumstances the resources they need to succeed in moving forward. Lago De Plata Apartments Learning Center and its staff have been recognized by HUD for its commitment to this program.
Our Learning Center has partnered with Navarro College to provide GED, ESL (English as a Second Language) and literacy courses for our students.
Additionally, several times a year the Dallas County Health Department visits the Learning Center to offer free health screening to our residents. Health Screening includes education and prevention training.
Our center prepares residents for employment by providing computer and internet access for job search via the web. We are currently building an association with Manpower, Inc. to provide training in building and writing a resume.
With careful planning, strong partnerships and concerned management Lago de Plata is able to offer a valuable community resource.
